Owner and Trainer, Diane Pitts
Diane has been training dogs since she got her first Cardigan Welsh Corgi almost 20 years ago. She participates in training seminars (obedience, agility and occasionally scent work) whenever possible and is always striving to become a better trainer for her own dogs and for her clients. She currently has a young Cardigan, Coedwig's Yodel, and an even younger Border Collie, Ewenique Fiji, both of which she is preparing for agility and obedience competition. And having lots of fun in the process! Diane is also a certified judge for the Canadian Association of Rally Obedience.
Rally Obedience
Rally Obedience covers all the basics one associates with traditional obedience but with an emphasis on building an upbeat working relationship between the handler and the dog. The dog/handler teams learn advanced heeling skills and combine those with traditional obedience moves, such as sit, down, stand, stay and leave-it. Many students of Rally Obedience go on to participate in fun-matches or sanctioned Rally Obedience trials. Just because it's fun! A Rally course consists of several (usually 18-22) numbered stations; at each station there is a Rally sign indicating exactly which skills the team must demonstrate. The challenge is for the handler/dog team to move from station to station in sequence and perform the behaviors indicated with as few errors as possible within a limited time. In a positive, happy manner, of course!
Rally Obedience is suited to dogs and handlers of all ages and levels of fitness. Even handicapped dogs can participate. Whether you are training your pooch for competition or you just want to have some fun with the family pet, Rally O has a lot to offer!
